Wallingford, Seattle, King County, Washington, 98015
Wallingford is a neighborhood in north central Seattle that sits on a hill above Lake Union’s north shore, roughly four miles from downtown. Following the construction of the University of Washington to the east in the early twentieth century, the area grew rapidly. Wallingford is a classic streetcar suburb, with trolley rails constructed through the neighborhood as early as 1907. It is characterised by its many 1920s style box houses and bungalows. Commercial growth is concentrated mostly along North 45th Street, where notable structures such as the neon “WALLINGFORD” sign, the Wallingford Center, and the original Dick’s Drive-In may be found.
