Phinney Ridge, Seattle, King County, Washington, 98103
Phinney Ridge is a neighborhood in Seattle’s northwestern outskirts. It’s named for the ridge that spans north and south between Ballard and Green Lake. The ridge is named for Guy C. Phinney, a lumber mill owner and real estate developer whose estate was purchased by the city and transformed into Woodland Park in 1899. Phinney’s estate contained a private zoo, and the western half of the park is now home to the Woodland Park Zoo.
