Skykomish, King County, Washington
Skykomish was built as a railroad town in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, 79 km east of Everett, on the South Fork of the Skykomish River. Today, it mostly serves as a rest stop for those seeking recreational access to the surrounding mountains, including skiing at nearby Stevens Pass. The mountains, which are located in the far northeastern part of King County, prevent Skykomish from having road access to the rest of the county.
