Sand Point, Seattle, King County, Washington, 98115
Sand Point is a Seattle neighborhood named for and predominantly made up of the Sand Point peninsula that juts into Lake Washington and is partly occupied by Magnuson Park. In 1924, Sand Point Airfield served as the destination for the first aircraft circumnavigation of the globe. The historic flight aided in persuading Congress to establish Sand Point as a navy aviation station. The station was decommissioned in 1970.
