Bellevue is a city in King County, located across Lake Washington from Seattle. It is the third-largest city in the Seattle metropolitan area and has been referred to variably as a satellite city, a suburb, a boomburb, or an edge city. The name of the city is taken from the French term belle vista (“beautiful view”). Some of the world’s largest technological companies have their headquarters in Bellevue. Its downtown area has seen fast change both before and after the 2008 recession, with many high-rise projects being built. With 1,300 businesses, 45,000 employees, and 10,200 people, Downtown Bellevue is the second-largest city center in Washington state.
