Seattle, King County, Washington
Seattle’s Central Waterfront is the most developed part of the Elliott Bay shoreline. It extends roughly northwest from the Pioneer Square beach, across Downtown Seattle and Belltown, and ends at the Olympic Sculpture Park on Broad Street. The Central Waterfront used to be the epicenter of Seattle’s nautical activity. Since the 1960s, when a container port was built to its south, the region has been increasingly turned to recreational and retail activities. Several century-old piers have been converted into stores and restaurants as of 2008. There are a number of parks, a Ferris wheel, an aquarium, and one over-the-water hotel.
