East Campus refers to the eastern section of the University of Washington in Seattle, stretching from the main academic core toward the shores of Union Bay and the Montlake Cut. This part of the campus blends natural beauty with athletic and research facilities, offering visitors a unique mix of outdoor exploration and institutional significance.

The area includes Husky Stadium, one of the most scenic college football venues in the country, with views of Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains. On game days, fans often arrive by boat in what’s locally known as the “sailgating” tradition. Adjacent to the stadium is the Alaska Airlines Arena, home to UW basketball and volleyball.

East Campus is also home to the UW Waterfront Activities Center, where tourists and students alike can rent canoes and kayaks to explore the nearby waterways and wetlands. Just south, the Montlake Cut connects Lake Union and Lake Washington, creating beautiful opportunities for walking and birdwatching along the trails of the Union Bay Natural Area and the UW Botanic Gardens.

This quieter part of the university grounds offers a scenic, open atmosphere with nature, sports, and campus history all within walking distance.
